Abstract

The article is dedicated to the main stages of development of bibliotherapy in relation to the experience of European English-speaking countries and the United States. Data from numerous studies of foreign colleagues, not covered in the literature until now, can be particularly useful in connection with the growing interest in the method in Russia. The benefits of bibliotherapy, such as low cost treatments, the possibility of distance therapy without loss of effectiveness, and a wide range of solved problems, makes the method perspective for further development.
