THE ROLE OF CIVIC IDENTITY IN THE STRUCTURE OF SOCIAL CAPITAL

Abstract

In the present study the author presents for
the first time the consideration of civil identity as a component
of the society social capital. The purpose of the study is
to identify the functional role of civic identity in the social
capital structure. The multiple regression analysis showed
that such characteristics of civic identity, as valence (the
degree of positivity) and strength (intensity), along with other
components of social capital relate to economic and political
attitudes of Russians. The research results demonstrate the
assumption that civic identity can be regarded as one of the
components of social capital
