Disclosure of possibilities and prospects of social work development and self-development as a science; the influence of its adjacent research disciplines on social work. Emphasis is given to the question of social work status and its public recognition as a professional activity. Presentation of expert assessments of the main directions and content of regional model of social sphere specialist’s training is shown on the example of the Tatarstan Republic.
