К трудным ситуациям относятся особенности психического здоровья родителей, употребление запрещённых веществ, насилие в семье и проблемы защиты детей. Родителям, чьи семейные отношения были нарушены в раннем детстве, непросто поддерживать хорошие отношения в будущем, в том числе и со своими собственными детьми. Применение программы в работе с семьями в Шотландии, Таджикистане и народе Маори в Новой Зеландии демонстрирует возможность кросс-культурного переноса.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Mellow Parenting programmes support the development of good relationships in families in exceptionally difficult circumstances, including parental mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence and child protection problems. Parents with troubled relationships in early childhood, find it difficult to sustain good relationships, including with their own children.
